Sabina Ott: who cares for the sky
@ Hyde Park Art Center
5020 S Cornell Ave , Chicago IL
Opening Sunday, February 21st, from 3 PM - 5 PM
On view through Sunday, May 1st
Hyde Park Art Center (5020 S. Cornell Ave.) presents the culminating exhibition of Sabina Ott’s Jackman Goldwasser Residency, “who cares for the sky?,” which contemplates the human’s fascination with “the mountain.” Ott will build an 8,000-cubic-foot mountain out of canvas, cardboard, polystyrene, and wood inspired by Gerturde Stein’s “The World is Round” (1938), the cultural icon’s only children’s book. The story follows a little girl, Rose, in her struggle to climb a difficult mountain in order to understand the world better from the top.
