Join Gallerista Chicago and CircaModern for the fourth iteration of the SOLO @ CIRCA series, a collaborative exhibition program highlighting the works of independent artists living and working throughout Chicago.
This collaborative exhibition program provides artists exhibiting online at Gallerista with an in-person platform to showcase work with the aim to develop and reach new audiences for contemporary artists in an alternative, yet arts-adjacent venue.
In television production vernacular, “easter eggs” are coy inside jokes or special features situated in widely consumed media. This is precisely how Eric Ruschman structures his ornate and highly chromatic paintings. The launchpads for these geometric abstractions and woodworked shaped panels are those of the gaymer, the sissy, the fan boy. For this body of work, Ruschman has created numerous multi-part paintings which conflate the lived environments of fictional TV families and internet memes along with his own home as well as the space of Circa Modern as a showplace for high design domestic objects. The result is a tender look at how we impress ourselves onto and into objects, fictions, and environments.
