An artistic/curatorial intervention by Kirsa Molina
Featuring work by Traci Fowler, Trevor Schmutz
Seizing upon the opportunity to have work featured in an apartment gallery space, the new exhibition Site Unseen has turned the tables on its curators/artists, Traci Fowler and Trevor Schmutz. Featuring selected works by them alongside their personal items, Site Unseen attempts to bring the narrative history of the artists’ possessions to the forefront in order to underscore how the idiosyncratic selection of things that make their house a home informs and reveals something about their artistic output.
By in effect ‘curating’ both the artists’ artworks and their personal objects within a domestic framework, Site Unseen also seeks to question the role of the intervening artist as curator, interior designer and active participant in the creation of a multiplicity of fluid narratives that alter the perception and understanding of the featured artists and their works.
