elo21forlyfe: When Woman is Boss
@ Julius Caesar
3311 W Carroll Ave.
Opening Sunday, August 10th, from 1PM - 4PM
On view through Sunday, August 31st
In 1926, When Woman is Boss, an article by Nikola Tesla is published in the men’s magazine Colliers. In it, Tesla predicts that the ruin caused by an industrial revolution will leave culture favoring the invisible object, the ephemeral connection made possible by wireless technology. He claims that women are superior in the kind of intuitive, non-verbal communication that will come to define the future of global economics.
This show includes a multi-functional, human scaled object that mimics the playful decor of Google headquarter’s, pictures of people with nature, a chart comparing the rise of children’s and women’s rights, and a video of Korean couples that dress in matching outfits. elo21forlyfe presents an irreducible section of the vast web of influences and thoughts that make up the engagements specific to her.
