@ Mana Contemporary Chicago

Opening Saturday, May 24th, from 1 PM - 7 PM
On view through Sunday, August 31st
Join us on May 24 on the 4th floor Mana Contemporary Chicago as we celebrate the Propeller Fund’s new project space and studio residency with workshops, a lecture, and an exhibition featuring the work of 2012 Propeller grantees.
Propeller’s new residency program offers two free, one-year studio residencies to develop new projects by Propeller Grantees. The studio spaces are adjacent to a 600 square foot space where the Propeller Fund will host workshops, exhibitions, curatorial initiatives, and community events. The 2014/2015 residency awardees are Radius and Multiuso; read more about them here.
All events are free and open to the public. Feel free to stop by anytime over the course of the day.
1:00 PM to 3:00 PM: An introduction to the Propeller application process. Tips on writing a proposal, budgeting, navigating the online system, along with insights into a juror’s point of view. Presenters include previous Propeller Fund awardees Eboni Hawkins and Anthony Stepter, as well as juror Mark Jeffrey.
3 to 4:00 PM: One-on-one meetings in 15-minute sessions with Propeller staff about applying to the program. Sign-ups will be available.
4:00 PM: Keynote address on community-engaged art in Chicago by artist Michael Rakowitz.
