In conjunction with Ben Murray’s current solo exhibition “Centerville” (closing May 31), Monique Meloche is pleased to host a conversation between Murray and Andreas Fischer, a Chicago-based painter and fellow University of Illinois at Chicago alumnus. Murray’s atmospheric images depict banal objects as transformed by the effects of memory, mood, and painterly improvisation. This dialogue in the gallery will explore painting as an act of remembering, and the complicated relationship that nostalgia and image-making within painting can have with our recollection of the past.
