MCA Talk: Lisa Wainwright & Terry R. Myers on the work of Isa Genzken

Lisa Wainwright, Dean of Faculty at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and Terry R. Myers, Professor and Chair of Painting and Drawing at SAIC, discuss Isa Genzken’s use of found materials that combine a post-pop aesthetic with punk assemblage.
For the past 15 years, Lisa Wainwright has served in major leadership roles for SAIC, including Dean of the renowned Graduate Program. As a professor in the Department of Art History, Theory, and Criticism, Lisa has authored numerous articles in books and international professional journals, as well as developed an extensive list of exhibition catalogues. She has lectured on topics from Robert Rauschenberg and the history of the found object in art to Contemporary Art and the rise of a neo-decadent movement at the turn of the twentieth century, and has curated multiple exhibitions. Lisa received her Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Vanderbilt University, and earned both a Masters and a PhD from the University of Illinois.
Terry R. Myers has written for such publications as Afterall, Art Review, Artext, The Brooklyn Rail, and Modern Painters. In 2007 Myers authored Mary Heilmann: Save the Last Dance for Me; and in 2011 he edited Painting for Whitechapel’s series, Documents of Contemporary Art. Myers has curated exhibitions at such institutions as MOCA LA; Gagosian Gallery, Beverly Hills; and the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles. Myers graduated summa cum laude at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, and studied at CUNY’s Graduate Center, New York.
