The new Cleve Carney Art Gallery presents the opening preview of its inaugural exhibition, “Selection of Artworks from the Cleve Carney Collection,” Thursday, Feb. 6 from noon – 2 p.m. at the McAninch Arts Center (MAC) located at 425 Fawell Blvd. This event is free and open to the public. The exhibition will be on display through March 29, 2014.
Carney, who passed away in July 2013, bequeathed 40 percent of his contemporary art collection, comprised of paintings, sculpture, and digital media to COD with the intent that these works be added to the college’s permanent art collection and displayed throughout the Glen Ellyn campus, as well as in the new Cleve Carney Art Gallery, recently constructed as part of the 14-month MAC renovations.
The inaugural exhibition,“Selection of Artworks from the Cleve Carney Collection,” will feature select works from the late Cleve Carney’s extensive contemporary art collection. “Selection of Artworks from the Cleve Carney Collection” is curated by Barbara Wiesen, Director and Curator of the Cleve Carney Art Gallery and COD’s Permanent Art Collection.
The Feb. 6 preview of “Selection of Artworks from the Cleve Carney Collection,” precedes the official public dedication of the gallery on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 3 p.m. Admission to the dedication of the Cleve Carney Art Gallery Sunday, Feb., 16 at 3 p.m. is free and open to the public.
The Cleve Carney Art Gallery presents its inaugural exhibition “Selection of Artworks from the Cleve Carney Collection,” Thursday, Feb. 6 through March 29, 2014. Post-opening gallery hours for the exhibition will be Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.; Thursday 6 – 8 p.m.; and Saturday 11 – 3 p.m. The gallery will also be open beginning one hour prior to MAC performances and during intermission.
