Extinct Entities: Borderless Musical Imaginaries Mixtape: House, Chances and Recuperating Queer Genealogies

Micah Salkind and Latham Zearfoss present a collaborative scholarly “mixtape.” Tracing histories of queer world-making on the dance floors of Chicago, the tape begins with the earliest, Black, Latino and queer iterations of House music in the city’s industrial loft spaces and gestures towards contemporary roving parties and events. Salkind and Zearfoss’ a/v mixtape will be followed by a panel conversation featuring local luminaries invested in the past and present of queer nightlife in Chicago.
