619 S Wabash Avenue, Chicago IL 60605
Opening Thursday, November 14th, from 5PM - 8PM
On view through Saturday, December 14th
For this exhibition, the A+D Gallery has culled together a series of works by artists and designers that in some way deal with wood’s material and visual properties. For thousands of years, people have used wood for a myriad of purposes, including fuel, shelter, tools, furniture, packaging, transportation, and paper. Wood is the basis of many pictorial images as in its basic form of a tree which have peppered thousands of landscape paintings and photographs as well as being the material used in wood type printing.
Participating artists and designers include Bridgette Buckley, Jeff Carter, Greta de Parry, The Franklin (Dan Sullivan and Edra Soto), Luis Gispert, Jeffrey Grauel, Andy Hall, John Henley, Marie Lorenz, Gordon Matta-Clark, Heather Mekkelson, Object Orange, Michelle Peterson-Albandoz, Min Song, and Starshaped Press (Jennifer Farrell).
