Night Club is pleased to announce Secret Lives, a two-person exhibition featuring new work by Edie Fake and Kevin Killian.
Kevin Killian is a novelist, poet, playwright, editor, critic, art writer and artist based in San Francisco. Recent projects include The Visitor Owl, script for two-channel video by artist D-L Alvarez; Nude, poems illustrated by collages by Ugo Rondinone; The Pre-Poetic, script for public TV video by artist Ajit Chauhan; Tagged: Variations on a Theme, a collection of Killian’s own photographs from GR/TR Press in San Diego; Fetish Photography, curated by Darin Klein at White Columns, New York; and Spreadeagle, his recent novel released by Publication Studio in Portland. Killian is one of the principals in San Francisco’s long-running Poets Theater as well as one of the original “New Narrative” writers of the 1980s and 90s.
Edie Fake was born in Chicagoland in 1980. He graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2002 and has since clocked time in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Baltimore. He was one of the first recipients of Printed Matter’s Awards for Artists and his collection of comics, Gaylord Phoenix, won the 2011 Ignatz Award for Outstanding Graphic Novel. His work has been exhibited internationally and his most recent body of work, “Memory Palaces” was shown at Thomas Robertello Gallery this past January. He currently lives in Chicago and works as a comics sommelier for Quimby’s Books and as an organizer for the Chicago Alternative Comics Expo (CAKE).
Please join us for an opening reception Friday, September 20 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. Kevin Killian will be present to read from a selection of new poems the night of the opening at 8:00 PM.
