PRESS RELEASE

New Street Agenda

The project New Street Agenda organized by Chester Alamo & Costello is the third in a series of investigations that test one’s understanding of street-level communication and how a simple gesture sometimes functions in today’s rapidly changing world. A series of 7 archival prints have been produced and will be placed in the public domain (e.g., city parks) for the casual passerby to find, keep and respond to. These prints are accompanied with a letter and information on the project written in the predominant local language of the city visited. Each city receives 7 different prints from the editions.

Spring 2013 Cities:

City 28 – 8 May 2013, Paris, France
City 29 – 12 May 2013, Caen, France
City 30 – 13 May 2013, Mount St. Michel, France
City 31 – 15 May 2013, Rouen, France
City 32 – 17 May 2013, Reims, France

Since October 2005, a series of artworks have been produced that use drawings and photographs of street communications and imagery made during previous visits to various cities (e.g., St. Petersburg, Russia; Lugano, Switzerland; Nashville, Tennessee). The completed artworks are now being placed back into the public domain for retrieval and interpretation incities around the globe. The initial prints of New Street Agenda were placed in Rome, Italy in 2007.

In 2013, a new series of archival prints will be used for the new art drops. These renderings were begun during the Searching for Geomantrick project produced in Chicago, 1998.
