“Forest” is a site-specific installation that brings together donated used Christmas trees from the surrounding Oak Park neighborhood to create a miniature forest grove the front yard of Terrain. The installation is accompanied by a 100-page artist book of photographs of trees made during Lee’s travels in California, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota, Oregon, Austria, and Newfoundland.
Jin Lee is a Chicago-based artist whose photographs of the Midwestern landscapes explore particularities of a place. Her works are included in the permanent collections at the Art Institute of Chicago, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Madison Art Center, and Museum of Contemporary Photography. She has received the John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship and the Illinois Arts Council grant, and is currently a Professor of Art at Illinois State University.
