August First Fridays: Selfies
@ Museum of Contemporary Art
220 E. Chicago Ave., Chicago IL
Opening Thursday, August 2nd, from 6PM - 10PM
This month, the theme of the night is selfies and for the 2013/14 First Fridays season we’ve added even more artist-activated events and Event Creative is transforming the museum for the night!
Kick off the evening by posing for a photo by Kelly Kaczynski in her pop-up green screen studio, while listening to Joan of Arc perform “Helter Skelter”, a site-specific endurance performance on the museum’s staircase. See six local comedians band together to create spontaneous sketches in Jennifer Mills’s interactive performance “Knock, Knock! Who’s There?” Enjoy a program of YouTube videos curated by Eric Fleischauer, or watch Selina Trepp’s video self-portrait, “Thinking about Inheritance”. Get outside yourself and join in on Mathew Paul Jinks’s experimental performance reading, “Invitation to read from an immigrant’s library”, and end the night with DJ sets by queer collective Chances Dances.
