Jeff Stevenson, Director of the Visual Art Gallery organized the national juried competition “Ways of Making” to further explore a theme that has connected a series of exhibitions in the campus gallery at Governors State University. The exhibition series focuses on art making media taught in the art program and includes work on paper, photography, painting, sculpture and digital media. The national juried show “Ways of Making” includes work that emphasizes materials and techniques as they pertain to subject and content.
The distinguished jurors were presented with nearly 130 entries with the task of selecting work that best fit the exhibition theme and would fit within the constraints of the gallery space. 29 artists’ works were selected including 2 and 3 dimensional work, videos, installations, and nearly every medium imaginable.
“It is very exciting to have video pieces and three dimensional work included in this year’s show”, said Jeff Stevenson. “Aaron and Jason did such an excellent job of choosing work that is so wide ranging in style and yet there is a cohesive look to the show that is just going to be a knock out when it all comes together”.
