Soiled Un/Earthed: Platescrapers

@ Gallery @ Living Room Realty

1530 W. Superior Street, Chicago, IL

Opening Saturday, June 9th, from 7PM - 10PM

On view through Saturday, June 9th

SOILED is an architectural periodical. It investigates latent issues in the built environment and the politics of space . Published twice per year on each solstice, SOILED is available in both a print edition and as a free downloadable PDF via our website. Our third issue, entitled Platescrapers, investigates the relationship between food culture and the built environment. Platescrapers navigates itinerant fare, comestible politics, and gastro-ritual to purvey stories about social issues and exaggerated realities. Each story illustrates food as a monument to galvanize the public.

To celebrate its release, we’re hosting an event called SOILED UN/EARTHED. UN/EARTHED is a cultural event that features interactive exhibits related to our print content. The event is open to the public and aims to engage the full spectrum of participation, from discourse to action.

The exhibit will feature the work of:
Stewart Hicks, Allison Newmeyer, Joseph Altshuler, Annie Lambla, Thomas Hillier, Greg Corso, Kyle Andrew Sturgeon, Eylül Kethüda Wintermeyer, Francesco Vedovato, and Katherine Darnstadt.

Curated and designed by:
Joseph Altshuler, Matt Harlan, Hollen Reischer, and Caroline Souza.

A variety of sponsorship opportunities are available via our Eventbrite sponsorship page: http://soiled.eventbrite.com/. All event sponsors will be recognized and promoted at the event itself as well as on our website, twitter, and facebook.
