Opening Tuesday, March 29th, from 8PM - 11PM
On view through Tuesday, March 29th
in this special FRIDAY night service, the THE CHURCH of CONTEMPORARY ART (CoCA) will lead congregants in the joy of following the CUBE towards an art practice based in CRITICAL HOSPITALITY.
featuring:
JESSICA ALLEE, STEPHANIE JARDIN, WAGO KREIDER, JAY NEEDHAM, ANGELA WATTERS, NICO WOOD, ANDREA BALDWIN, COLE ROBERTSON
this service is the first opportunity for our CHICAGO brethren to experience CoCA’s full-length program. this will include an inspirational message by our PROLIFIC LEADER, STEPAHNIE JARDIN, video hymns and sing-alongs, immersive media, televisual testimonials from members around the world, sacraments of kool-aid and gourmet marshmallow, scriptural readings of avant-garde art texts, a DETECTION of the SPIRIT followed by baptisms, and will conclude with a tithing to fund the MINISTRY of ART. while CoCA offered a shorter service in the SPRING of 2012 during the RAPID PULSE INTERNATIONAL PERFORMANCE ART FESTIVAL, this special service has been expanded to offer more CRITICAL HOSPITALITY for a needy city.
THE CHURCH of CONTEMPORARY ART is inclusive in nature and operates as a model for alternative art practice structures by fostering collaboration and critical awareness about art world paradigms. CoCA is a secular organization that pairs the rituals and relics of religion with the seductive allure of contemporary art to critique institutions, and supports contemporary artists of all disciplines.
