Yuki Kokubo and Julia Marsh: Photographs and Everyday Sky
On Saturday March 23rd at 6pm, Dogmatic will host an opening reception for two exceptional artists, Yuki Kokubo and Julia Marsh. These artists work with photography but engage the medium much like Edra Soto, as a tool in a process meant to expand their understanding of universal moments or experiences. Formal Qualities are manifest in these works but not to the extent seen in the work of Colin Stearns which has previously been shown in the gallery. Ms. Kokubo and Ms. Marsh lush pieces incorporate digital manipulation either to heighten the visual experience with the inclusion of text or by using the computer as a means to edit and arrange images. With Ms Kokubo’s, Photographs and Ms. Marsh’s, Every Day Sky Dogmatic completes its investigation of photography and it’s processes among emerging Chicagoans. We would like to invite you to engage in the subtle banter about the lofty practices and preaching of two more of Chicago’s finest talents.
Dogmatic is located at 1822 S. Desplaines in the historical Pilsen neighborhood.
Photographs and Every Day Sky will run through Saturday May 11th. Our normal business hours are Friday 12-2pm, Saturdays from 12-6pm or by appointment.
