This collection of work, tinged with humor and irony, has at its core the tapping finger or backwards glance. It triangulates a self-conscious position between technology, environment, and body. In doing so, its fundamental concerns are more to do with the needs of our psychology. The important questions are not about what is coming, but how we think about what is coming. For all its spectacle, the metaphor of survivalism finds its roots in the fundamental and the mundane. An expression of time and endurance. In the end, after all the preparations, our most indelible words may be carried forward on wisps of plastic bags: thank you thank you thank you.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
work by SARAH BELKNAP & JOSEPH BELKNAP MARISSA LEE BENEDICT LIZ ENSZ PARSONS & CHARLESWORTH DAVID REUTER MANUEL RODRIGUEZ JIYOUNG YOON curated by Phil Peters Survivalism conjures images from the most fantastical corners of our imagination, but also a bleak reality, a reduction to essentials, an anxious urgency.
