An installation of Evil Eye-themed paintings<br \/>\n2. A selection of various other works<\/p>\n<p>1. Evil Eye Paintings (18)<br \/>\nI love playing with powerful iconography. I start-<br \/>\ned using the Evil Eye symbol in some larger, more<br \/>\ncomplicated paintings after coming home from<br \/>\na trip to Greece.<\/p>\n<p>It started with a blank 22″x22″ stretched linen. I had<br \/>\nan idea for creating a very simple, graphic, pseudo-<br \/>\nspiritual painting: an evil eye peeking through a hole<br \/>\nwhich would also define a crescent moon shape.<br \/>\nThis became a theme in the series.<br \/>\nI layered different colors of pigmented ges-<br \/>\nso. I played around with sanding into them and<br \/>\nover-painting and sanding again at various times,<br \/>\nover and over, and found unexpected subtlety.<\/p>\n<p>2. Some slightly older<br \/>\nand some much older.<\/p>\n<p>About the Artist:<\/p>\n<p>Richard Louderback (b.1964) Pisces Super Dragon, Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, CA, BA, Illustration (1989). Richard Louderback has done illustration work, both in advertising and editorial, from religious magazines to bank ads and the New York State Lottery to pornographic publications. Larry Flint once said Mr. Louderback was, “extra hot on the salsa scale,” after an illustration of his got Hustler Magazine pulled off half the liquor store shelves of America. Mr. Louderback also created famous street-wear graphics and illustrations, and has also designed sets, props and prosthetics for commercials, music videos and feature films.<\/p>\n<p>He co-designed the Delicious Vinyl Records logo with Matt Dike.<br \/>\nHe created the Dust Brothers logo.<br \/>\nHe has worked with John Waters a few times, most recently illustrating the<br \/>\ncover of his first novel, Liarmouth.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Louderback’s fine art has been exhibited internationally, and is included in collections such as The Sarabande Foundation, Tiffany & Co, and Les Soirées Nomades de la Fondation Cartier.<\/p>\n<p>[Image: ‘Merry Bananas’ by Richard Louderback, 2018, oil and acrylic on panel, 36 x 36 inches.]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Binary, 2 bodies of work 1.
