BACK TOGETHER AGAIN

You know you missed us! We missed you, and we just couldn’t leave you hanging for a third year, so we’re beyond excited to announce the return of the Silver Room Sound System Block Party©!

We were planning our 2020 party when what we thought would be a couple weeks of uncertainty turned into a couple years. We were all upended by a surprising global health crisis colliding with racial unrest that felt too familiar. We made our way–as we always do–by finding inventive ways to adapt, connect and entertain. While we were away, we thought about what a block party really is: A celebration. A reunion. A kiki. A place to laugh, feel, heal and dream. To make memories and future plans. To dance, to sing, to vibe. Community. Togetherness. Tradition.

So finally, after everything we’ve all been through, we’re back for year 17 and better than ever. It’s the same southside summer energy with some major upgrades from previous years. We’ve gone from a 1-day party to a 2-day celebration. And, get ready for a change of scene from the streets to the beach! We’ve outgrown our home in Hyde Park, so we’re relocating to the more spacious Oakwood Beach! So this year we’ll be partying with the skyline in our sights and the lake by our side.

And of course you can expect the usual dope musical lineup across multiple stages, but we’ve added local food vendors, a health + wellness area, a design pavilion, beach volleyball, and even more to come.

We’ve been putting in work to make this the most memorable Block Party yet. From grown folks to kiddos–it’s fun for everyone! So, join us for head nods, handshakes and hugs. Let’s celebrate the healing power of music and art, together. This is for US.

On May 16th, join us as we host a conversation moderated by Mario Smith with members of The Silver Room ( Eric Williams Ron Trent- Rob McKay) and The Chosen Few (Wayne Williams-Alan King-Terry Hunter) as they discuss their respective outdoor music events that have changed the narrative about the South Side of Chicago and its role in cultivating the culture. The talkback will be immediately followed by a night of music from Ron Trent and members of The Chosen Few. Proceeds from this event will go to established scholarship fund for college bound students.

Chosen Few DJs
Since 1990, the group has organized the Chosen Few Picnic & Festival, which draws an estimated 40,000 House Music fans to Chicago’s Jackson Park each July. In addition to their signature event, the Chosen Few DJs regularly host events in Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and New York, perform at festivals around the globe, including the Amsterdam Dance Event, Winter Music Conference, and Suncébeat, and continue to produce award-winning music.
The Silver Room

The Silver Room Sound System Block Party, started in 2002, celebrates cultural diversity through expression, music and art, is a community event hosted by The Silver Room and owner, Eric Williams and Ron Trent. Once a quaint affair for friends and family of The Silver Room, the event has grown into a vibrant and diverse, all-ages, neighborhood gathering and continues to be a platform for famed and up-and-coming artists from the Chicagoland area.
