ARTISTS

Érika Ordos [Caracas, Venezuela b. 1980 as Erika Ordosgoitti] is a performance artist, audiovisual artist and poet. She has a degree in Fine Arts Mixed Media Mention from Instituto Universitario de Estudios Superiores de Artes PLásticas Armando Reveron in Caracas. She has been granted several awards including: Young Artist Award from the International Association of Art Critics AICA (2016), Young Artist Award, MISOL Foundation for the Arts, Bogota (2014); First Honorable Mention, SuperCable Hall of Youth with FIA, Caracas (2011); Honorable mention, National Exhibition of Art 34 Aragua, Maracay (2009); University Award, First National Exhibition of Art University, Caracas (2009). Her work has been exhibited at Museum of Contemporary Art of Bogota, Museum of Contemporary Art of Oaxaca, National Art Gallerie of Poland, as well as in multiple academic institutions and private galleries. She is director of El Avispero Artist Residency in Venezuela. www.instagram.com/erikaordos

Kezia Dorsey Swann [Chicago] is a storytelling artist whose work highlights the fallacy of fact by using ancient techniques of dreaming and imagination to find that which is true. To this extent, their work has a heavy focus on futuristic myth-making and historical fabulation. They often employ dialogue, song and sound that is felt before heard. They value deep listening for understanding by incorporating body and emotional intelligence. Things are repeated, chopped, elongated, reduced and expanded based on how they feel within the immediacy of the moment. Time Traveling is not only a subject matter in most of their work but a method of creation/ a praxis/ a pedagogy. They push against, overlap and reject syncopation often. Growing up in The Black Pentecostal Church traditions, despite their queerness, they think of the work as trying to find that which is holy, whole, holistic and/ or holds within Black and/or Queer functionality. www.keziawaters.com | www.instagram.com/fagette4life_

Antibody Corporation [Chicago] creates antiworlds, working across media with a focus on music and performance. Antibody has presented works in Chicago and beyond, since 2009. Visit antibodycorp.org or instagram.com/antibodycorporation/

PRESENTERS

Defibrillator Performance Art Gallery [DFBRL8R] is one of only a handful of organizations worldwide with a focus specifically on Performance Art. Recognizing a demand for spaces that adeptly present body-based visual art, founder and director Joseph Ravens created an international platform in 2010 that quickly became known for bold and courageous programming that aims to provoke thought and stimulate discourse surrounding experimental time-based practices. Actively contributing to global dialogues about conceptual, ephemeral, or immaterial expressive forms, DFBRL8R energetically bridges local, national, and global communities by presenting established and emerging Chicago talent alongside exceptional visiting artists. Defibrillator presents provocative and reputable programming to champion artists and audiences who are diverse in their culture, identities, and worldview by providing a valuable platform with a propensity for speaking to the concerns of all those who are invested in alternative modes of being in society. www.dfbrl8r.org

el Laboratorio Tangencial de Arte Posnación {\}() {\}∆‡!(){\} [No Nation] is/as an independent disorganization founded in 2012. Its mission has been to serve as an artistic platform for experimental cultural production through Performance Art , language, image making, sound, exhibitions and screenings…etc. We are deeply concerned with critical concepts of origin, the affirmation of agency, intimacy, spontaneity and collaboration in how art is created, discussed and experienced. America is not a country. Calling a country a continent and a continent a country has invisibilized for 500 years the more than 37 countries that exist in the so called American continent. Which is actually called ABYA YALA and TURTLE ISLAND; name given by its native inhabitants way before the start of the European invasion in their 1942. Nations are arbitrary delineations in geography that through history have been kept the way they are by making wars against each other and others.
Force of Momentum | Anonymous Boh

Through non-stop world tours, performances, exhibitions, and publications, Anonymous Boh [a.k.a. Al Paldrok] has created one of the most representative, significant, timely and transformative art movements in all of history. As Ringmaster, Boh has become the Wild Bill Hickok, the P.T. Barnum, the Alfred Jarry, the Tristan Tzara, the Ezra Pound, the Orson Welles of our Era. We have entered The Apocalypse, The Storm. Boh, implementing all The Arts via NON GRATA’S Diverse Universe global performances, reveals to us not only where we presently stand in The Storm but he also conjures visions of our soon to be realized post-apocalyptic absurdly playfull tormented kaleidoscopic landscapes. www.printmaking.ee/anonymous_boh | www.nongrata.ee

BIOGRAPHIES

Non Grata [Estonia] is a performance group that travels constantly all over the world – Asia-America-Europe – presenting original performances and organizing the Diverse Universe Nomadic Performance festival. The main characteristics of Non Grata members are anonymity in group work, ignorance of the local art world, and critique of mass media. Non Grata manifests creative freedom and Storm Generation while physically weaving together a worldwide creative network. Around the name NON GRATA there have been different hushes and shushes for a long time. Already from the point of view of death of conventionalization of art, NON GRATA has embodied the horrible and unwanted disembodiment of the human person, from which the meaninglessness of nowadays art is pouring out. For those whose world of arts starts from the point where the art world ends, NON GRATA has been a liberator, the orphic gap in a seemingly unalterable course which, however, betrays us; it is a cure from incest. The main point of the group is ethical – it is the image of primitivism, impersonality and experimental creativity. The performances of the group take place according to the logic of avoiding codes. The presentations are physical texts whose ways of orthography and reading are kept within limits of real actions by the group members. Aesthetical and provocative challenges are represented in places where the Art World doesn’t work. www.nongrata.ee

Devil Girl [Taje Paldrok] is an Estonian performance, installation and new media artist educated in the alternative art institution Academia Non Grata in Estonia as well as the Academy of Fine Arts of Helsinki, and Universität der Künste in Berlin. She is one of the main engines behind the international performance group Non Grata since 1998. As Devilgirl, this femme fatale has been seen on over continental underground scene worldwide, wild and anonymous. MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. www.instagram.com/tajedevilgirl

Growing up in The Black Pentecostal Church traditions, despite their queerness, they think of the work as trying to find that which is holy, whole, holistic and/ or holds within Black and/or Queer functionality. www.keziawaters.com | www.instagram.com/fagette4life_

Hyde Park Art Center is a hub for contemporary arts in Chicago, serving as a gathering and production space for artists and the broader community to cultivate ideas, impact social change, and connect with new networks. The Art Center functions as an amplifier for today and tomorrow’s creative voices, providing the space to cultivate and create new work and connections. HPAC offers a comprehensive set of programs that serve the creative and resource needs of artists and our communities. Through our exhibitions, artist talks, studio art classes, international and local residency program, free public events, satellite class sites, and professional development opportunities we work to provide the space for artists at every age and stage to cultivate their practice, build connections, and impact our world. www.hydeparkart.org

el Laboratorio Tangencial de Arte Posnación {\}() {\}∆‡!(){\} [No Nation] is/as an independent disorganization founded in 2012.
Performances curated by Oklahomo and No Nation

LINCOLN’S BEARDS (Oklahomo)
A Performance in Three Acts by Corey Smith, JP Glover & Nick Wylie

This new work, developed with the support of legendary Chicago venue Oklahomo, looks at Abraham Lincoln’s queerness and lost loves. From his early beginnings in the frontier town of New Salem, Lincoln’s romantic relationships are clouded in expansive ambiguity. Was his relationship with Ann Rutledge, traditionally presented as Lincoln’s first true love, just a cover-up for his relationship with Billy Greene? Was his romance with Mary Todd just a public distraction from Joshua Speed — his bedmate of many years? Was the death of Lincoln’s dear friend and possible lover Elmer Ellsworth the emotional catalyst that drove him to wage the Civil War so ruthlessly? Weaving historical narratives, original music, and personal reflection, LINCOLNS BEARDS thinks through the many ways of covering-up, coming out, and looking back.

Alé Campos as Celeste (Oklahomo)

Ále Campos is a multi-disciplinary artist and performer whose elastic studio practice is anchored by drag and their persona, Celeste. They create a variety of works that span live and mediated performance and the mediums of video, text, sound and print media. They implement drag in their work as a framework for constructing images, playing with the gaze and skirting our expectations of performance art. Their practice is fortified by their role as curator, producer and host of a variety of happenings and events that center drag and queer performance. In 2018, they started a still-standing, monthly queer performance evening in Hudson, NY. In the summer of 2020, they received a grant from the City of Hudson, NY to design and create a mobile stage to host a variety of artists during the pandemic. In December of 2021, they co-curated a night of drag and dj sets by queer, BIPOC artists, with Jeffrey Gibson at Kavi Gupta Gallery in Chicago, IL. For them drag is a mindset – it is made manifest in makeup, costume and affect and can extend as a mode of looking at and engaging with the world.
