With images reciting the daily tedium of chores and household activities, the substance of “At Home” is a reflection on social and anthropological constructs of our domiciliary spaces. The subtle wryness of Ms. Zabicki’s surfaces reflect upon the systemic congruency between cleaning a mirror and painting an image of that very same act. Ms. Toebbe’s deceptively flat paintings, drawings, and collages conflate complex compositional spaces from experience and memories of domestic settings.

At Home
March 12-April 20, 2018

Gallery Hours:

Monday-Friday — Noon-5 p.m.
Thursday Evenings — 6-8 p.m.
Saturday — 1-4 p.m.

The post At Home– FINAL WEEK first appeared on The Visualist.

<post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">80465</post-id>

Nicole Mauser and Tobey Albright: Privates- catalog release and conversation

Meg Duguid

Uncategorized

Carthage College

HF Johnson Gallery

Kenosha

Nicole Mauser

Privates

Ryan Peter Miller

Tobey Albright

Join Artists Nicole Mauser and Tobey Albright in a conversation about their current curatorial exhibition project, ‘Privates.’ In tandem with the public dialogue, Mauser and Albright have released a limited edition publication that is part exhibition catalog and part artist book. This full-color publication features images from the exhibition and a hand-printed cover.

Hosted by Gallery Director, Ryan Peter Miller, the event will be held in the H.F. Johnson Gallery. The artists will discuss the breadth of the project, including the physical publication and web features, and will receive questions from the audience.

American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation is provided.

“Privates” is a curatorial installation from Chicago artists Nicole Mauser and Tobey Albright. Ms. Mauser, a painter working in the language of abstraction, and Mr. Albright, a freelance graphic designer, have prepared an exhibit of their private art collections. For “Privates”, the gallery functions as a viewing room, making public an aspect of the artist that is typically unknown. In the tradition of a museum rotating its collection, the installation manifests in multiple iterations throughout the run, providing insight into artists through the things they look at and possess.

The post Nicole Mauser and Tobey Albright: Privates- catalog release and conversation first appeared on The Visualist.

<post-id xmlns="com-wordpress:feed-additions:1">73805</post-id>

Privates

Meg Duguid

Exhibition

Carthage College

HF Johnson Gallery

Kenosha

Nicole Mauser

Ryan Peter Miller

Tobey Albright

Wisonsin

“Privates” is a curatorial installation from Chicago artists Nicole Mauser and Tobey Albright.
