Bye Bye America
@ gallery no one
1579 N Milwaukee Ave. Room 303, Chicago, IL 60622
Opening Saturday, May 11th, from 7PM - 9 PM
On view through Saturday, May 11th
Bye Bye America is an event that celebrates the farewell to a period of time and prospects for the future. Through the transformation of the gallery, the exhibition creates a space to conjure the audience’s memories when they first entered the United States. They may also have the chance to re-experience the feeling of anticipation, joy, panic, or fear.
Meanwhile, the video work American Dream focuses on seven international students who shared different lives and changes in the United States over the years. The event attempts to value different kinds of emotion and memories that relate to the experience of being a nonresident alien in the US but have been staying here for a great amount of time. Specifically for people like international students, this experience is always more than a piece of visa on a foreign passport. Eventually, when they leave the States, it is undoubtedly beyond a one-way ticket.
This is the last event of gallery no one. It marks the gallery’s three years of commitment of supporting and promoting emerging artists. Please come to celebrate with us and say goodbye to the gallery.
