Parlor Room Presents: Karsten Lund

Karsten Lund is Associate Curator at The Renaissance Society, where he is working on solo exhibitions with David Maljkovic (Feb 2019) and LaToya Ruby Frazier (Sept 2019, co-curated with Solveig Øvstebø). In 2018, he organized Unthought Environments at the Ren, a group show looking at human infrastructure and the elements—things like earth, water, and air. Earlier projects, including Phantoms in the Dirt at the Museum of Contemporary Photography (2014), have also developed his interests in materiality, photography, and our environments. From 2011 to early 2016, Lund worked at MCA Chicago, where he curated Witness—exploring the triad of photographer, subject, and viewer—and worked with artists such as Simon Starling, Kerry James Marshall, and Sarah & Joseph Belknap.

Parlor Room is a visiting artist program and lecture series created, run, budgeted and curated by graduate students of photography at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Parlor Room provokes dialogue and connections with artists, curators, thinkers, and critics engaged with photography. Through public presentations, one-on-one studio visits, and informal group events with graduate students and faculty, Parlor Room seeks a diversity of thought and practice.
