@ Congruent Space
1216 W Grand Ave, Chicago, IL 60642
Opening Friday, February 15th, from 7PM - 10PM
On view through Sunday, February 17th
“I Thought About Posting This” is a forthcoming installation of 20 new and recent images by photographer Joshua Aronson. From February 13th through the 17th, Aronson will take over all three gallery rooms at Congruent Space, a retail and gallery concept based in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood.
An opening reception will be held on Friday, February 15th from 7:00pm to 10:00pm, featuring the eclectic Chicago collective DIAL UP on the mixing boards. Complimentary drinks will be available to guests who RSVP through Eventbrite.
Aronson’s show engages a hybrid of documentary, fashion, portraiture and still life approaches to photography in order to outline the way in which photographs inform how we see ourselves today. Playing with representational aesthetics of gender and sexuality in signature new contexts and intimate ways, he holds a mirror to how we construct our understanding of youth identity in this current image-saturated landscape.
