In Progress: Bảo Nguyễn and Kanyinsola Anifowoshe

Opening Tuesday, February 5th, from 6PM - 8PM
Participate in an interactive performance in the form of a Fluxus-inspired standardized test, hosted by Bảo Nguyễn and Kanyinsola Anifowoshe. The artists, current high school seniors, will facilitate a conversation about the emotions and politics involved in testing following the performance.
About the artists:
Kanyinsola Anifowoshe is a 17 year old Nigerian-American artist who is usually thinking and writing about the architecture of justice, radical hope, and building new art histories. She is editor-in-chief of Wahala Zine, a platform for the creative work of young people in the Nigerian diaspora, and host of The Now podcast where she interviews young creatives. She is also a co-organizer with Fempowerment Chicago and Youth for Black Lives, organizations intended to amplify the power of young people within activism.
Bảo Nguyễn grew up in Vietnam and currently lives in Skokie, Illinois. Through performance art and sound, they explore language, its limitation and miscommunication.
Kanyinsola and Bảo are members of the Teen Creative Agency at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, where they design public programs with other artists.
In Progress is a series designed to give patrons a look into the process of artists, thinkers, and curators. Youth-led events are organized by Grace Needlman, Manager of Youth and Family Programs, and Ellen Chu, Coordinator of Family, Youth, School, and Teacher Programs.
**Programs in the Commons are free; museum admission on Tuesdays is free for Illinois residents.**
