Adler & Floyd is pleased to present new work by Joseph Josué Mora
Through Mora’s perspective of being a recipient of the Deferred Action of Childhood Arrival program (DACA), immigrant and artist based in Chicago, he notices similarities in both the world of politics and the art world: preference of higher class, marginalization of people of color, and the lack of accessibility of resources. Through drawings, installations, and performances, Mora seeks to depict an underling double meaning of the United States bureaucracy in the museum tools and barriers he abstracts in his work.
Mora is an alum from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts. He has been awarded the Caxton Artists Book Grant and SAIC’s Student Government’s Idea Grant to help start the production of Undocumented Projects’ Survival Kits. Currently he is exhibiting a collaboration piece in a group show, ‘Peeling Off the Grey’, at the National Museum of Mexican Art (Chicago) and is St. Laurence High School’s (Burbank, IL) teaching artist.
