12th Annual Jane Addams Day Celebration
@ Jane Addams Hull-House Museum
800 S Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60607
Opening Monday, December 10th, from 6PM - 8PM
Join us for a celebration of the Jane Addams legacy with a program, refreshments and visit to the new exhibit in the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum entitled: “Participatory Art: Crafting Social Change”, a multidisciplinary exhibition that will explore the Social Settlement’s influence on visual and performing arts in Chicago through historical and contemporary practices: bookbinding, the origins of art therapy, ceramics, theater and performance.
Jane Addams was a founding Chicago Inc. branch member. In 1931, Jane Addams became the first American woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize. In 2007, the State of Illinois set aside December 10 as a commemorative holiday to remember Addams’ lifelong commitment to peace and justice. Jane Addams Day is an opportunity to celebrate the Hull-House progressive tradition and the practice of peace, and to bring people together who are working on peace and justice today.
Thank you to the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum for partnering with the Chicago Inc. Branch and hosting the celebration.
