Whit Forrester: Domesticating the Numinous
@ Schneider Gallery

Opening Friday, January 11th, from 5PM - 7:30PM
On view through Friday, March 1st
Schneider Gallery is pleased to exhibit work by Whit Forrester for the final exhibition at our LaSalle Street location.
Interested in how the Divine is embodied through light, Forrester references the golden halo common to religious iconography as a means to elevate the ordinary and often neglected. Forrester’s gilded portraits of everyday houseplants call into question our human relationship to nature and spirituality, as well as histories of colonization and capitalism.
Whit Forrester earned their BA in Environmental Studies from Oberlin College (2007) and his MFA in Photography from Columbia College (2017). Their work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and has been included in exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, IL (2018); Trestle Projects, New York, NY (2017), Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago, IL (2015), among others. Forrester is currently an Assistant Professor of Art in Residence at Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois.
