Born in Mexico and currently residing in Kankakee, Illinois, Fermin Barbosa is a mixed-media artist who focuses on color, texture, shape, line, and juxtaposition in his creative process. His new work shows a balance between geometric and biological forms. Fermin paints in a spontaneous fashion, going with the flow of the composition – he feels a sense of freedom to be able to play with the elements of art. He’s inspired by the gift and hard edge of urban environments, as well as the contour and bright color of produce, and admires the contrasting beauty between concrete and organic elements.
