“One of the reasons I’m so interested in performance in general is the potential of the gathering of bodies and what happens when we’re in rooms together.”
keyon gaskin’s works obviate the traditional divide between spectators and artist, inviting audience members to move throughout the performance space and challenging them to experience the work in unexpected ways.
keyon gaskin prefers not to contextualize their art with their credentials.
Intermissions launched in January 2017 as a new programming series devoted to ephemeral and performative works, staged in the Renaissance Society’s empty gallery in between exhibitions. This recurring platform presents two events every year, supporting a wide variety of live projects.
