flat earth curved body

Montrose Beach
Opening Friday, July 6th, from 4PM - 10PM
On view through Friday, July 6th
New Works & Horses Two present flat earth curved body, a beachside exhibition featuring works by: Matías Añón, Marissa Macias, and Kira Scerbin, followed by a screening at dusk of The Foreigners (2001) a film by Peter Barrickman, Brent Goodsell, Didier Leplae, & Xav Leplae.
Visitors to Chicago view the oceanic Lake Michigan with awe. It reminds us of our smallness like the coasts do – then corrects – displacing us in perspective of its finite measure. Another kind of beach exists spitting distance from the luxury high-rises, across the way from east Chicago neighborhoods. A repose from the rare Chicago heat but never at the precipice – still knowing the side that we can’t see.
For flat earth curved body we chose artists and works which propagate in a space extruded by the lake and grounded by the earth entirely surrounding it.
