POWER Project: Time Salon – The Currency of Social Structure
@ Comfort Station Logan Square
2579 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60647
Opening Sunday, June 17th, from 4PM - 6:30PM
This event is part of the Time Salon series. The Time Salon is a facilitated gathering offered by The Kola Nut Collaborative which guides participants through dialogue and practice in communal asset mapping, social economy, and non-monetary exchange. In this intentional space, we challenge the idea that participation in a framework of economic exchange necessitates the use of the dollar as currency.

Theme: The Currency Of Social Structure: A No-Money Marketplace
“The Currency of Social Structure” seeks to transform selected spaces into social marketplaces where the human assets populating the space become critical to increasing social value within the space. In this session, we reflect on our social economy and broaden perspectives of where currency is created or exchanged.
Spatial prompts will engage participants in a thoughtful exchange of skills, services, and talents. This exploration of an intangible human capital asks participants to imagine a world without money and all of the opportunities we have to bring some aspects of that world into fruition wherever we are.
