The Brown Body in the Landscape, Detention, and Technology
@ Comfort Station Logan Square
2579 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60647
Opening Sunday, June 17th, from 1PM - 3PM
Risa Puleo and Mev Luna will present their respective research into contemporary conditions of incarceration and engage in a dialogue with each other and the audience afterwards. Puleo looks to the borderlands and the work of the art collective Postcommodity (Raven Chacon, Cristóbal Martínez, and Kade L. Twist) to examine the means by which one enters an institution of confinement. While Luna critiques the enthusiasm of technology to “democratize” both the Prison Industrial Complex and Healthcare system, often targeting the same demographics.
