KIKÙ HIBINO
Chicago-based, Japanese-born sound artist KIKÙ HIBINO produces cross-genre electronic music. From chamber music for media productions to digital micro sound for art installations, he has collaborated internationally with a wide variety of artists and scholars, including Kawaguchi Takao (Dumb Type), Curtis Roads, Theaster Gates, Mike Weis (Zelienople) and Norma Field. He studied electronic music composition at University of California at Santa Barbara under the mentorship of Curtis Roads and Karen Tanaka, and holds an M.A. in media art and technology, as well as a B.A. in policy management from Keio University Shonan Fujisawa Campus in 2002, where he minored in electronic music composition under the mentorship of Toru Iwatake, Atau Tanaka, and Christopher Penrose.
His latest project, Radial Categories, uses dance music as an understructure. The beat, voice and melody slip slightly out of sync as they progress, overlap, play from different speakers, or at times, go silent.
Radial Categories is rooted in early Chicago House and noise music – minimalist electronic music that emerged out of the innovative use of relatively inexpensive tools in a harsh economic and cultural climate.
Allen Moore
Allen Moore is a Chicago based Educator, Curator, Painter, and Experimental Sound Artist. He was born and raised in Robbins Illinois. ). Allen holds a Masters in Art from Governors State University and a Masters of Fine Art from Northern Illinois University. His work converses with signifiers of Black culture and personal narrative; bringing to view the underlying themes of racial, emotional and socio-economical conditions.
Distributed Autonomous Organization
Jon Mack and Michael Stumpf unite to bring all their love, found-sounds, and lost noises.
