Ever wondered how the different regions of Chicago feel about news coverage of their neighborhoods? There has been very little scientific data on the issue—in particular, there are few contemporary studies that examine this transitional time in the local media landscape. That is, until now.

With input from City Bureau, the Center for Media Engagement surveyed a representative sample of 900 Chicagoans to explore the attitudes toward, and preferences for, Chicago news media across three regions—South, West and North/Central. The resulting report reveals plenty of new, quantifiable information about the ways Chicagoans think of media engagement, representation and public financial support for media—all based on thoughts and experiences from a diverse range of real Chicagoans.

Join us, the Center for Media Engagement and our local partners for the launch of the Chicago News Source Survey followed by a guided discussion and small group sessions aimed at addressing inequity, creating solutions and building a stronger media ecosystem in Chicago.
