Mary Brogger: There and Black Closing

@ UNUM

3039 W Carroll Ave, Chicago IL 60612

Opening Saturday, October 28th, from 1PM - 5PM

On view through Saturday, October 28th

Join us for the closing of Mary Brøgger’s solo exhibit, “There and Black.”

“There and Black” features new works that explore concepts of allegiance, fealty, patriotism, tradition and inquiry, using materials that range from 14kt gold to shag carpet.

Brogger’s sculptures and designed objects have graced and inspired Chicago for decades — her Haymarket Memorial sculpture is an international site of pilgrimmage for labor activists and historians, her Recognition Panels use icons of achievement to demark the points of entry to Bronzeville along Martin Luther King Drive.

This is Brogger’s first solo exhibition in Chicago since relocating to Los Angeles in 2009. It coincides with the reinstallation of the Haymarket Memorial at DesPlaines and Randolph Streets this September, and a major indoor commission at the adjacent new EMME building at 165 North DesPlaines.

The artist will be present at the opening reception, from 3-5pm on Saturday September 9. The exhibition runs through Saturday October 7. Hours are Saturdays 12 – 5pm and by appointment. Call 312-909-5902 for appointments and access. 3039 W. Carroll Avenue, Chicago.
