Please join the South Side Community Art Center for the closing celebration of our Cultural Giants and Ancestors exhibition. Meet the artists, enjoy a glass of wine, Hors d’oeuvres and the Open Mic performances!
“Celebrating Our Cultural Giants & Ancestors”, curated by artist Dorian Sylvain, commemorates the many Cultural Heroes and Sheroes (living and departed) who have built bridges, platforms, institutions, art forms and styles. Witness the cultural ripple effect which continues to influence and manifest in many art forms today, including the likes of musical genius Duke Ellington, brilliant wordsmith Tupac, the political prowess of Angela Davis, through the “Kool-Aid” color theories of AfriCOBRA and more.
The public is invited to engage in this incredible visual journey, depicted through photographs, portraits, mixed media, oil on linen, assemblage, collage, and acrylic on wood. Revel in culture and ancestry at the South Side Community Art Center amidst the amazing works of art, highlighting brilliant artists of Chicago. SSCAC unites artists and art collectors. Garner insights from the actual artists whose art you may purchase to start or expand your collection.
