Woman Made Gallery is proud to welcome Caroline Jacobson to WMG as our second Artist In Residence. Beginning in October, Caroline has utilized the gallery as her own personal studio space. For a two week period, she has access to WMG to create original work, as well as install pre-existing pieces. The short-term residency will culminate with an opening reception on November 5th, where the artist will live-create a final piece in the presence of an audience.
OPENING RECEPTION
In addition to a first look at the solo exhibition, “Tacky Pallazzo,” the artist will do a live performance of the creation of an original piece during the event. All proceeds will go directly towards support of the artist. WMG will provide light snacks and drinks!

ARTIST BIO
Caroline Jacobson is a Chicago based artist who has been empowering women through her craft since dropping out of business school in 2014 to study art. She is currently studying painting and drawing at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Investigating complexities of womanhood through a contemporary lens, her paintings explore notions of female sexuality, gender performance, and body politics in popular culture. She aims to undermine and challenge the erasure of the female experience and the routine objectification of the female body throughout the history of art. An upcoming talent in the Chicago scene, she often uses close female friends and herself as subjects. Her work expands upon the voice of contemporary womanhood and represents the female figure as a sovereign source of power.
