Darryll Schiff’s recent mural project in the South Loop brought attention to Chicago’s art community. The past decade has seen an amazing blossoming of Darryll Schiff’s work, so evident in his recent Evanescence series and his newest ‘Descending to Heaven,’ just finished mural in the South Loop. They are metaphors for the impermanent, ephemeral quality of our lives, the constant flow and frenzy of contemporary rimes, illusions, and of perception versus reality.
After the Institute of Design and continuing to work on his fine art, Darryll also pursued a successful commercial photography career, including shooting assignment for Los Angeles Magazine, San Francisco Magazine, Rolling Stone, Women’s Wear Daily, Stern, Geo, Beverly Hills Magazine, Pepsi, Capitol Records, and Charles Jourdan. His list of celebrity clients includes Tea Leoni, Lisa Marie Presley, Mark Harmon, Chazz Palminteri, Jason Patric, Jasmine Guy, Robin Williams, Holly Robinson Peete, Regina King, and Jada Pinkett Smith.
Approximately 10 years ago Darryll decided to focus solely on his fine art. Mr. Schiff’s art appears in many noteworthy institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, George Eastman House, Norton Simon Museum Pasadena, Museum of Contemporary Photography, and in many private collections.
