What Is and Never Was
@ Parenthesis Gallery
2333 W. Ohio Street, Apt 2F, Chicago, IL 60612
Opening Saturday, August 13th, from 7PM - 2AM
On view through Thursday, September 1st
Parenthesis Gallery is pleased to present “What Is and Never Was” – a group show exploring paradoxes, Schrodinger’s Cat, entrapment, and possibilities. It is interested in what it is to be in a space, to be confined, to be uncertain. In this show, the artists explore what their work might look like in a parallel zone, or in the future. They explore what their art is, and what it tries to be, whether that anchors it in reality or sends it splintering off into the unknown.
We are delighted to display artwork by Eden Mitsenmacher, Caitlin Ryan, Dan Streeting, Francine LeClercq, Nancy Wisti Grayson, Michael Rado, Raegan Bird, and Nathan Dragon and Sarra Jahedi.
The works will form a dialogue with their location, all housed in and around a 6ft x 6ft x 6ft cube built for the show.
“What Is and Never Was” opens August 13 and runs through September 1st. The opening is at 7pm and goes late. Other dates, viewing is by appointment. As always, you can reach us at parenthesisgallery@gmail.com.
