Artist Talk with Dana De Ano

Dana De Ano, an artist and resident of Evanston, IL, works predominately through drawing on paper in a manner she refers to as two and a half dimensional.
During her talk she will describe her artistic process of mixing traditional media and media that many might not consider art material at all—hair nets, paint chips, pieces of old tires and other discarded items. She’ll describe her educational history, including her M.F.A. education at the School of Art Institute of Chicago where she studied through the Painting and Drawing department and was highly influenced by the Fiber department.
Dana will explain how she’s come to practice the business side of promoting and selling her work since choosing to work independently from her dealer, and she’ll describe how the scholarships, fellowships and residencies she’s received have steered the direction of her work. Dana will wrap up her talk by describing where she foresees herself going and her current goals.
