Doug Fogelson and curator Allison Grant join together for an open interview, shedding light on Fogelson’s experimental photographic techniques, his interest in ecology and devastation, and his plans for his year-long residency with Openlands.
Doug Fogelson studied photography at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Columbia College Chicago. His photographic manipulations are included in notable public and private collections such as The J. Paul Getty Center, The Museum of Contemporary Photography, The Cleveland Clinic and exhibited with esteemed galleries. He has been recognized by publications including Art News, Photo District News, Art Forum, and AfterImage. Doug Fogelson founded Front Forty Press, an award-winning independent fine art publishing company, and has taught in the Photography Department of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He is an advocate for the fine arts and social/ecological sustainability.
Allison Grant is Assistant Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College Chicago, where she has worked since 2008. She has assisted with numerous exhibitions and curated the show Our Origins in 2011 and Spectator Sports in 2013. Grant holds an MFA in photography from Columbia College Chicago and a BFA from the Columbus College of Art and Design in Media Studies. She currently teaches as an Adjunct Faculty member in the Photography and Art & Design departments at Columbia College Chicago.
This event is part of the programming calendar for Field Study, a juried exhibition for the Filter Photo Festival in support of the non-profit organization Openlands.
