Glow: HCL Film & Projection Night
@ The Capsule
1359 North Maplewood Ave, Chicago, IL 60622
Opening Friday, August 16th, from 6PM - 10PM
Glow: HCL Film & Projection Night is more than a film screening. This one-night all-ages event highlights various approaches to creating light-based work. Featuring film, projection, music, mashups that blend sound and visuals, and conversations with artists, this event illuminates the visual side of the HCL Artist in Residency Program.
Glow will present live performances by Christopher Knowlton (HCL Artist in Residence) and Regina Martinez (HCL Fellow Artist in Residence) who both integrate projection, sound, and technology into their performance practices. These performances will be followed by feature films by two HCL Alumni, Ben Baker-Smith and Monica Thomas, who utilize film as a critical component within their audio/visual and dance/movement practices.
Rounding out the program will be a shorts program featuring work by: Kin Marie and Brenden Smith, MOMENTA Dance Company, Benjamin Rosenthal & James Moreno, Julieta Tetelbaum, and Megan Young. Tickets are $10 and refreshments will be available!
Following the screening will be a free after party at Quality Time Bar (2934 W Diversey Ave.) with DJ sets by Regina Martinez, selective listening and HCL’s Artistic Director, Aquil Charlton, aka AQ!
