Join us for the first opening for RaD Lab+Outside the Walls with Tiffany Johnson at Rainbow Beach Park Fieldhouse on June 5th!

Tiffany Johnson has been researching the history of resources and care work for survivors of gender-based violence on Chicago’s South Side. She has a long practice of working with Black femme and gender nonconforming survivors in various capacities. Through the research year, she utilized that experience to have individual and small group conversations with care workers and survivor support organizations. She also engaged histories of resource distribution across the city that support survivors and policy that protects (or creates barriers for) survivors.

For her public installation, Tiffany plans to honor the thought and practice lineage of survivor support work through an exhibition that will activate archival findings, storytelling, and convenings with survival support workers.

About the Artist
Tiffany Johnson is a grassroots researcher and survivor advocate interested in community building through ancestral technologies and creative modalities. She is ACRE’s Programs Director and the Curator behind the Chicago Park District’s Anchor residency program. She is also co-stewarding the development of the survivor support mutual aid group, Project Nebula.

Uncounted and Counting (Incontable y Contando) es una instalación pública en Rainbow Beach Park Fieldhouse, que reflexiona sobre los últimos 20 años de trabajo de cuidado centrado en la comunidad y liderado por sobrevivientes a través del lente del movimiento antiviolencia. Localizada a algunos pasos del Lago Michigan y rodeada por ofrecimientos de la Tierra, esta instalación de múltiples banderas responde al deseo de la comunidad de tener un espacio para la reflexión, la tranquilidad y para responder a la violencia de forma colectiva, ya sea contra mujeres y niñas, armada o doméstica.

Uncounted and Counting incluye una pequeña colección de materiales de lectura que profundizan al anclar a les participantes en el contexto histórico mientras destaca la lucha constante contra la violencia sistémica que se filtra hasta la cuadra.

Sobre la Artista

Tiffany Johnson es una investigadora comunitaria y defensora de sobrevivientes que está interesada en la construcción de comunidad a través de tecnologías ancestrales y modalidades creativas. Es Directora de Programación de ACRE y curadora del programa de residencia Anchor del Distrito de Parques de Chicago. También está guiando el desarrollo de Project Nebula, un grupo de ayuda y apoyo a sobrevivientes.
