Spring is in the air, and what better way to celebrate than with stories, songs, and fun activities with the UChicago Library. Our Storytime facilitator, Carmenita Peoples, will bring stories of imagination, art, and nature to honor the living legacy of UChicago professor and artist, Jessica Stockholder. Bring your little ones and join us for a special Spring-themed Storytime event that will spark their imagination and fill their hearts with the joys of the season. This event is perfect for children of all ages, so don’t miss out on the Springtime fun.
Carmenita Peoples is an artistic performer, writer, and certified Montessori educator. She currently serves as part-time staff and educational contractor at the University of Chicago Lab Schools. Her company, Innovative Art and Education, LLC, works with students and teachers to offer Diversity, Equity, Inclusion programming, education, and support through performance art. As a graduate of The Second City Training Center musical conservatory, improv, and writing programs, Carmenita uses her artistry to bridge inter-cultural and generational gaps. She is also a writer of children’s stories and plays. Carmenita has performed at The Moth, Write Club, Story Jam, Story Serenade, and Soul Stories. A dreamer, a seeker, a mother, and a friend, Carmenita can be seen “edutaining” audiences throughout the city of Chicago and its surrounding suburbs. She is one of the featured storytellers in Chicago Storytellers From Stage to Page and Storyteller’s True Love Stories.
