Attention, taken to its highest degree, is the same thing as prayer. It presupposes faith and love. Absolutely unmixed attention is prayer” (Simone Weil, Gravity and Grace)
Inspired by stained glass windows, fragmented frescos, and wall engravings, this show is a meditation on the act of looking at, through, and in. Through mixed media paintings and drawings, each work holds a certain amount of surface tension that evoke the nuances of peeking through a thicket, peering through stained glass, or looking through an icon. The aim of these crafted scaffolds is to function as both a boundary and a sign that alludes to light coming from within and beyond the surface.
