Soccer Club Club is pleased to present with TRAMPS and Donald Ryan the first solo exhibition of Tim Breuer in Chicago. This exhibition will run concurrently to Breuer’s exhibition at TRAMPS New York opening on November 14th. With these two exhibitions in two different cities, Breuer creates a kind of conversational arrangement that echoes the mood that suffuses his paintings of intimate social moments.
In these paintings, Breuer reckons with his place in time through a sensitive interpretation of his everyday reality. He infuses his sense of self into these modern urban pastorals by blending his material and spiritual experiences on the canvas. Figures lounging in an orange glow or a blue-green shadow, sitting together in a dark red room, the attitudes and forms of Breuer’s subjects interrelate with the vocabulary of his palette. Context and subject are intermingled and held in a delicate balance, creating an extremely specific sensation of the moment captured there. Showing his viewer how his internal life cannot be separated from the lives he observes and encounters in the city.
Tim Breuer (b. 1990, Aachen) lives and works in Berlin. He studied painting at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and the Royal College of Art, London. He has had solo and two-person exhibitions at Champ Lacombe, Biarritz (2022), and TRAMPS, London (2022). He has been included in group exhibitions at Fondation Carmignac, Ile de Porquerolles, France (2023), and Michael Werner Gallery, East Hampton (2021). His solo exhibition at TRAMPS (www.trampsltd.com) will open concurrently with Soccer Club Club.
