Container Continuum is a reflection on the relationship between objects and their containers. Coming out of a convergence of interests in religious objects and collage, Mikey Mosher’s latest body of work explores how the process of designing containers and then collecting and arranging objects to live within them can be a contemplative and revealing practice. By building these simple and materially humble enclosures, Mikey attempts to create a space for modular divination with found objects to find permanent homes for them and create a harmony of symbolic associations with their surroundings. This arranging process opens doors between compartmented versions of the self, past and present, imagined and real, intellectual and intuitive, physical and psychological.

Join us on October 26th for a one hour artist talk with Mikey himself, supported by The Martin’s Gallery Assistant Dennissa Young. Doors at 5:30pm and the talk will begin at 6pm!

Mikey Mosher is an interdisciplinary artist from Massachusetts, currently based in Chicago. He holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Much of Mikey’s work is influenced by his undergraduate Religious Studies background. Growing out of a robust hand-cut collage practice, much of Mikey’s recent work revolves around the act of collecting and arranging objects, images, and materials in combination with design, woodworking, and digital fabrication. @mikey.mosher
